Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**PCZ@PB** is an experimental platelet-membrane-coated, probucol-loaded ceria-zoledronic acid nanozyme formulation developed for atherosclerosis. The nanocomposite consists of cerium ions assembled with zoledronic acid to form ceria-zoledronic acid nanocomposites, loaded with the antioxidant lipid-lowering drug probucol, and coated with platelet membrane. The platelet-membrane shell is intended to promote accumulation at inflamed atherosclerotic plaques, while the ceria nanozyme component scavenges reactive oxygen species and the probucol cargo provides antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity. In preclinical atherosclerosis models, PCZ@PB reduced oxidative stress and inflammation and inhibited macrophage foam-cell formation.
