PD-1 antibody coexpression CD19-targeted CAR-T cells is an investigational, genetically engineered autologous chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy under development by the Institute of Hematology at Union Hospital, Tongji Medical College, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. This cell therapy is designed to target CD19-expressing B-cell malignancies while simultaneously co-expressing a programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) blocking antibody. By locally secreting or expressing the anti-PD-1 antibody, these CAR-T cells aim to disrupt the immunosuppressive PD-1/PD-L1 signaling pathway within the tumor microenvironment, thereby preventing T-cell exhaustion and enhancing the persistence and antitumor efficacy of the CAR-T cells. It is being evaluated in clinical trials for the treatment of relapsed or refractory B-cell lymphoma.
