Overview

A combination therapy consisting of a programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitor and one or more antiangiogenic agents. PD-1 inhibitors are immune checkpoint inhibitors that block the interaction between PD-1 on T cells and its ligands, thereby enhancing antitumor immune responses. Antiangiogenic agents inhibit the formation of new blood vessels in tumors, primarily by targeting vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) signaling pathways, which can normalize tumor vasculature and improve immune cell infiltration. The combination is designed to produce synergistic effects by both stimulating the immune system against cancer cells and disrupting tumor blood supply, leading to improved efficacy in various solid tumors such as renal cell carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, non-small cell lung cancer, triple-negative breast cancer, gastric cancer, and others[2][4][5][3][1]. This regimen has demonstrated improved objective response rates (ORR), progression-free survival (PFS), and overall survival (OS) compared to monotherapies in multiple clinical trials.
