Drug intelligence / Profile preview
A combination therapy that pairs PD-1 checkpoint inhibitors with progesterone. PD-1 inhibitors work by blocking the interaction between PD-1 (programmed cell death protein 1) on T cells and PD-L1 on cancer cells, preventing immune suppression and enhancing T cell-mediated anti-tumor responses. Progesterone complements this action by inhibiting epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), stimulating immune protection through increased tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, and inhibiting proliferative pathways like PI3K/AKT and Wnt/β-catenin when progesterone receptors are present.
