PD-1-IRDye800CW is a near-infrared fluorescence (NIRF) molecular imaging probe developed for intraoperative image-guided surgery and tumor detection. It consists of a monoclonal antibody targeting programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) conjugated to the near-infrared dye IRDye800CW. Developed by researchers at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and collaborating institutions, the probe is designed to specifically bind to PD-1-expressing cells within the tumor microenvironment, allowing real-time visualization of tumor margins and microscopic residuals during surgical resection. Preclinical studies in mouse models of breast cancer have demonstrated that PD-1-IRDye800CW-guided surgery, particularly when combined with adjuvant immunotherapy, significantly improves the completeness of tumor resection, reduces local recurrence, and prolongs overall survival.
