Overview

PD-1 knockout autologous T cells is an experimental autologous cell therapy being developed by The Third Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University. The treatment involves the genetic modification of a patient's own T lymphoid cells using CRISPR/Cas9 technology to disrupt the Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PD-1) gene. By eliminating the expression of PD-1, the T cells are designed to resist PD-L1-mediated immunosuppression within the tumor microenvironment, thereby enhancing their anti-tumor efficacy. This therapy is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for patients with platinum-resistant or refractory ovarian cancer.
