Overview

PD-1 x VEGF dexabody is a bispecific synthetic D-protein (dexabody) developed by Dextera Biosciences for the treatment of various immuno-oncology indications. As a "dexabody," the molecule is composed of D-amino acids, which are mirror images of the natural L-amino acids found in standard proteins. This synthetic architecture is designed to provide enhanced stability, reduced immunogenicity, and improved pharmacokinetic properties compared to traditional biologics. The drug is engineered to simultaneously target Programmed Cell Death Protein 1 (PD-1) and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF). By inhibiting PD-1, it aims to restore T-cell mediated anti-tumor immunity, while its anti-VEGF component targets tumor angiogenesis and modulates the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment. It is currently in the preclinical hit discovery phase.
