Overview

PD-1601 is a monoclonal antibody developed by BioArctic that targets α-synuclein, a protein implicated in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. As an α-synuclein inhibitor, its mechanism of action involves binding to and inhibiting α-synuclein, potentially reducing or preventing the aggregation of this protein that leads to neuronal dysfunction. The drug is being investigated primarily for nervous system diseases, with Parkinson's disease as a key indication. As of March 2025, PD-1601 remains in the discovery phase and has not yet entered clinical trials[1][4].
