PD-FA is a folic acid-decorated palladium decahedral nanoenzyme designed to enhance the efficacy of iodine-125 (125I) seed radiotherapy, particularly in hypoxic tumor environments. It functions by targeting tumor regions and catalyzing the conversion of intracellular hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) into oxygen (O2), thereby alleviating tumor hypoxia. Additionally, the palladium component enhances the deposition of radiotherapeutic energy within tumor tissues, leading to improved radiosensitization. Its prolonged in vivo circulation, compared to palladium nanodots, allows for sustained radiosensitization.
