Overview

PD1-IFNα is a recombinant fusion protein drug that combines a programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) inhibitor with interferon alpha (IFNα), specifically IFNα2. It is designed to synergistically enhance anti-tumor immune responses by blocking the inhibitory PD-1 pathway on T cells while simultaneously stimulating immune activation through type I interferon signaling. Mechanistically, the drug aims to restore and boost cytotoxic CD8+ T cell activity within the tumor microenvironment by increasing T cell infiltration and overcoming immunosuppressive signals. Preclinical studies have shown that this approach can significantly improve efficacy compared to either agent alone, particularly in hepatocellular carcinoma models. The drug was initially developed by Innovent Biologics[2][3][4].
