Overview
PDC-748 is a drug under development by PhytoHealth Corporation, currently in a Phase II clinical study for the treatment of acute cough. Preclinical studies demonstrated its dose-dependent inhibitory activity on citric acid- and capsaicin-induced cough reflexes in guinea pigs. Early human trials (Phase I/II) suggested it was well tolerated and could alleviate daytime cough. The ongoing Phase II trial is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, dose-escalating study designed to confirm these preliminary findings, establish a dose-response range for its antitussive effect, and determine the maximal tolerable dose.
