PDC339 is an active ingredient derived from American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) and has been developed as a botanical drug candidate for gastrointestinal disorders, particularly acute erosive gastritis. It was independently researched and developed in Taiwan, notably by National Taiwan University Hospital and the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Technology Development Center. The precise mechanism of action of PDC339 remains unknown. Preclinical studies indicate that it has a favorable safety profile with no significant toxicity observed in animal models at high oral doses. Clinical development reached Phase 2 for erosive gastritis, but there are no approved indications or known adverse events reported to date[1][3][5][7].
