Overview

PDF-1-derived peptide is a synthetic 37-amino acid peptide derived from the *C. elegans* pigment dispersing factor-1 (PDF-1) protein. Research indicates that PDF-1 and its receptor (PDF1R) share structural homology with the mammalian incretin family, including glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP). In preclinical models of diet-induced obesity, the peptide has demonstrated the ability to suppress body weight gain, reduce food intake, and significantly improve insulin sensitivity. Its metabolic effects are associated with the up-regulation of brown fat activity markers such as Ucp1 and Cidea, as well as increased glucose uptake in muscle cells. It is being investigated as a potential novel backbone for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes.
