Overview

The pdhx plasmid vaccine is a preclinical DNA plasmid vaccine encoding pyruvate dehydrogenase complex component X (PDHX), an early-stage breast cancer antigen. Developed by researchers at the University of Washington, the vaccine is designed for the prevention and treatment of breast cancer. PDHX is overexpressed during the early stages of breast tumorigenesis and is essential for breast cancer cell survival. Immunization with the pdhx plasmid vaccine stimulates antigen-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T-cell immune responses, leading to type I T-cell-mediated tumor growth inhibition and prevention of spontaneous tumorigenesis in breast cancer models.
