Overview

PDNO is a code name for a drug candidate known as organic mononitrites of 1,2-propanediol. It is an investigational compound being studied primarily as a nitric oxide (NO) donor. The mechanism of action involves the release of nitric oxide, which acts as a vasodilator by relaxing vascular smooth muscle and thereby increasing blood flow. PDNO has been investigated in preclinical and early clinical studies for its potential use in conditions such as pulmonary hypertension and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), where improved pulmonary vasodilation may be beneficial. The drug is not currently approved for any indication.
