Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PE002 is a peptide-based biosimilar developed by Letolab that targets the glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor. Currently in the lead optimization stage, it is being developed for the treatment of diabetes and weight loss (obesity). As a GLP-1 receptor agonist, PE002 mimics the physiological effects of the incretin hormone GLP-1, which includes stimulating insulin secretion in a glucose-dependent manner, inhibiting glucagon secretion, and slowing gastric emptying. These actions contribute to improved glycemic control and significant weight reduction, making it a candidate for metabolic disorders.
