PEAK Platelet Rich Plasma is an autologous biologic therapy produced using the PEAK Platelet Rich Plasma System, originally developed by DePuy Synthes. The therapy involves concentrating a patient's own platelets from a peripheral blood sample to create a plasma fraction rich in growth factors and cytokines. When injected into damaged tissue, such as the common extensor tendon in lateral epicondylosis (tennis elbow), it is intended to stimulate a natural healing response, promote cellular proliferation, and enhance tissue regeneration. The University of Wisconsin, Madison, has conducted Level 1 randomized controlled trials to evaluate its clinical, biomechanical, and tissue-regenerating effects compared to standard corticosteroid injections, utilizing advanced imaging like shear wave acoustoelastography to monitor tissue healing.
