Overview

BlueWillow Biologics, in collaboration with Medigen Vaccine Biologics, is developing an intranasal therapeutic vaccine for the treatment of peanut allergy. Utilizing the proprietary NanoVax platform, the vaccine combines purified peanut protein with a unique oil-in-water nanoemulsion adjuvant (NE01). The vaccine is designed to be administered intranasally to elicit both mucosal and systemic immunity. Its primary mechanism of action involves reprogramming the immune system to shift from a Th2-mediated allergic response toward a Th1/Th17 response, thereby suppressing inflammatory allergic reactions and inducing long-term tolerance to peanut allergens. Preclinical studies have demonstrated its efficacy in treating established allergic disease in animal models, and the program has received funding from the NIAID to support its advancement toward an Investigational New Drug (IND) application.
