Overview
Peanut Dissolving Film is a sublingual orally dissolving film being developed by Johns Hopkins School of Medicine for the treatment of peanut allergy. The active ingredient is peanut extract, which contains the major peanut allergen Ara h 2. This product is a form of allergen immunotherapy designed to desensitize patients. It is administered as a film that dissolves quickly under the tongue to modulate the immune response, affecting peanut-specific IgE and IgG antibodies and basophil reactivity. The film formulation is based on water-soluble polymers like hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC).
