Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The peanut sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) tablet is an investigational biologic product developed by ALK for the treatment of peanut allergy. Utilizing ALK's proprietary sublingual tablet technology platform, the drug contains a standardized extract of peanut protein allergens. It is designed to induce clinical desensitization and long-term immune tolerance by gradually exposing the patient's immune system to increasing doses of peanut allergens through daily sublingual administration. This process aims to modulate the allergic immune response, potentially reducing the risk and severity of allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, upon accidental exposure to peanuts. The product is currently being evaluated in the Phase I/II ALLIANCE clinical trial across pediatric and adult populations.
