peceleganan

Peceleganan (PL-5) is a novel, chemically synthesized α-helical antimicrobial peptide (AMP) containing 26 amino acid residues. It is developed as a topical spray for the treatment of skin wound infections. Peceleganan acts as a cell membrane modulator, disrupting bacterial membranes and exhibiting broad-spectrum antibacterial activity against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including drug-resistant strains. Clinical trials have demonstrated that peceleganan spray is safe and has higher clinical efficacy than silver sulfadiazine in treating skin wound infections, though its bacterial clearance rate may be lower. The drug was independently developed by Jiangsu ProteLight Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology[1][2][3][5][7].
