Pectuna

Pectuna (P013) is a biosimilar of the monoclonal antibody pertuzumab, developed by the Iranian company CinnaGen. It is a recombinant humanized monoclonal antibody (mAb) that targets the human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2). Specifically, it binds to subdomain II of the HER2 extracellular domain, which is the region responsible for dimerization. By sterically hindering the dimerization of HER2 with other members of the HER family (such as HER3), Pectuna inhibits downstream signaling pathways like PI3K/Akt and MAPK, which are critical for tumor cell proliferation and survival. Additionally, like the reference product Perjeta, it mediates antibody-dependent cell-mediated cytotoxicity (ADCC). It is approved in Iran for the treatment of HER2-positive breast cancer, including neoadjuvant therapy.
