PediflorKidz is a pediatric oral care product line developed by Group Pharmaceuticals, primarily available as a toothpaste and mouthwash. The formulation combines sodium fluoride and xylitol to prevent dental caries in children. Sodium fluoride works by integrating into the tooth enamel to form fluorapatite, which is more resistant to acid dissolution, and by promoting the remineralization of early incipient lesions. Xylitol is a five-carbon sugar alcohol that cannot be fermented by oral bacteria like *Streptococcus mutans*, thereby reducing acid production and bacterial growth in the oral cavity. The product is specifically formulated for children with a lower fluoride concentration (typically 458-500 ppm) compared to adult toothpastes to minimize the risk of fluorosis.
