Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pediococcus acidilactici SWP-CGPA01 (ExoBDNF®) is a probiotic bacterial strain developed by Sunway Biotech Co., Ltd. Originally isolated from chicken intestines in Taiwan, this live biotherapeutic candidate functions by modulating the gut-brain axis and the intestinal microbiota. Preclinical research indicates that SWP-CGPA01 supplementation can alleviate diarrhea and restore hippocampal brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) expression in models of antibiotic-induced dysbiosis. The strain has undergone genomic and phenotypic safety assessments, supporting its potential use in food and nutritional applications for maintaining gastrointestinal and neurotrophic homeostasis under conditions of gut microbiota dysbiosis.
