Overview

Pediococcus pentosaceus Li05 (registered as CGMCC 7049) is a live biotherapeutic product (LBP) consisting of a specific probiotic bacterial strain originally isolated from the fecal samples of a healthy human volunteer. Primarily investigated by academic and clinical research groups in China, such as those at Zhejiang University, Li05 has demonstrated significant anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and lipid-lowering properties in preclinical models. Its therapeutic mechanism involves the modulation of the gut microbiota composition, preservation of intestinal epithelial barrier integrity, and regulation of key signaling pathways including the 5-HT (serotonin) pathway and the FXR-mediated bile acid signaling axis (FXR-SHP/FXR-FGF15). It is currently under research for the treatment of various gastrointestinal and hepatic conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), Clostridium difficile infection (CDI), and primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC).
