Overview
Peg-grafeel (DRL_PG) is a pegfilgrastim biosimilar developed by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories for the management of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia. It is a long-acting, PEGylated form of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). The drug functions as a G-CSF receptor agonist, binding to receptors on hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow to stimulate the proliferation, differentiation, and activation of neutrophils. By extending the half-life of filgrastim through PEGylation, Peg-grafeel allows for a single subcutaneous dose per chemotherapy cycle, reducing the incidence of febrile neutropenia and the duration of severe neutropenia in patients with non-myeloid malignancies receiving myelosuppressive therapy.
