Overview

Peg-Neutropine is a biosimilar of pegfilgrastim developed by Gema Biotech for the prevention of febrile neutropenia in patients receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy. It is a pegylated form of recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). By binding to the G-CSF receptor, it stimulates the production, maturation, and activation of neutrophils, thereby reducing the duration and severity of neutropenia. The pegylation increases the molecular size and reduces renal clearance, allowing for a single 6 mg subcutaneous dose per chemotherapy cycle. It was the first pegfilgrastim biosimilar approved in Latin America, specifically in Argentina, following clinical trials demonstrating equivalence to the reference product.
