Pegbovigrastim is a pegylated recombinant bovine granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (rbG-CSF) developed by Elanco Animal Health for use in veterinary medicine. Marketed under the brand name Imrestor, it functions as an immunomodulator by binding to the granulocyte colony-stimulating factor receptor, which stimulates the production, differentiation, and release of neutrophilic granulocytes from the bone marrow. It is specifically indicated for dairy cows during the periparturient (transition) period—a time of natural immunosuppression around calving—to reduce the incidence of clinical mastitis and other infectious diseases. The covalent attachment of polyethylene glycol (pegylation) extends the drug's half-life, providing a long-acting effect that maintains elevated and more functional neutrophil counts during the critical window of susceptibility.
