Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PEGCSF second level prophylactic use refers to the secondary prophylactic administration of pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (PEG-rhG-CSF) in patients undergoing myelosuppressive chemotherapy. In this regimen, PEG-rhG-CSF is administered subcutaneously 24 hours after chemotherapy in subsequent cycles only if the patient experienced febrile neutropenia (FN) or grade 4 neutropenia in a previous cycle. This approach is evaluated in clinical trials, such as those conducted by Zhejiang Cancer Hospital, to compare its efficacy, safety, and cost-effectiveness against primary (first-level) prophylaxis in breast cancer patients at medium-to-high risk of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia.
