Overview

Pegcyte is a pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) developed by Nanogen Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. As a long-acting analog of filgrastim, it consists of filgrastim covalently linked to a polyethylene glycol (PEG) molecule, which significantly extends its half-life and reduces the frequency of administration. Pegcyte acts by binding to the G-CSF receptor (CSF3R) on hematopoietic cells, stimulating the proliferation, differentiation, and activation of neutrophils. This mechanism effectively reduces the duration and severity of neutropenia in patients undergoing myelosuppressive chemotherapy. It was developed as a biosimilar to the reference product Neulasta and is primarily indicated for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced neutropenia in patients with non-myeloid malignancies.
