Overview

Pegerythropoietin (RD01) is a pegylated form of erythropoietin, designed as an agonist of the erythropoietin (EPO) receptor. It stimulates erythroid progenitor cells in the bone marrow to increase red blood cell production. The drug is being developed primarily for the treatment of anemia, including anemia associated with chronic renal failure and chemotherapy-induced anemia. Its extended half-life due to pegylation allows for less frequent dosing compared to conventional erythropoiesis-stimulating agents. The primary developer is Shenzhen Sciprogen Bio-Pharmaceutical. Clinical trials have reached Phase 2 for indications such as anemia in chronic renal failure patients on hemodialysis and chemotherapy-induced anemia in non-metastatic breast cancer patients[1][2].
