Pegevongitide is an investigational Tie2/angiopoietin-1 pathway agonist peptide designed to stabilize vascular endothelium, reduce vascular leakage, and attenuate inflammation in conditions characterized by pathological vascular leak. It acts as an agonist of the angiopoietin-1 receptor (Tie2), thereby promoting endothelial barrier integrity and vascular normalization in states such as acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) secondary to viral or bacterial pneumonia and cerebrovascular injury associated with hemodialysis-induced circulatory stress.[1][2][3][6][7][11] The drug, also referred to as AV-001, is being co-developed by Vasomune Therapeutics and AnGes and has advanced from Phase 1 studies in severe COVID-19/ARDS into Phase 2 development, including a Health Canada–approved investigator-initiated trial to prevent acute ischemic brain injury and cognitive impairment in patients undergoing routine hemodialysis.[2][3][6][7][8][9][10][11]
