Overview

Pegfilgrastim-apgf is a biosimilar of pegfilgrastim, a long-acting, recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) used to reduce the risk of infection due to neutropenia in patients receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy for cancer. It acts by stimulating the bone marrow to produce more neutrophils, thereby decreasing the duration and severity of neutropenia. Pegfilgrastim-apgf binds to the granulocyte colony-stimulating factor receptor on hematopoietic cells, activating signaling pathways that promote proliferation and differentiation of granulocyte progenitor cells. The drug is administered subcutaneously and is marketed under the brand name Nyvepria[1][3][5][8]. Developed as a biosimilar, it offers an alternative to reference pegfilgrastim products for supportive care in oncology.
