Overview

Pegfilgrastim-bmez is a biosimilar of pegfilgrastim, marketed under the brand name Ziextenzo. It is a long-acting, recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) analog used to reduce the risk of infection in patients with non-myeloid cancers receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy and to treat acute radiation syndrome. Pegfilgrastim-bmez stimulates the bone marrow to produce neutrophils by binding to specific cell surface receptors on hematopoietic cells, promoting their proliferation, differentiation, and activation. This helps decrease the duration of severe neutropenia and lowers infection risk during cancer treatment or after radiation exposure[2][3][4].
