Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pegfilgrastim-cbqv is a biosimilar of pegfilgrastim, a long-acting, recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) used to reduce the incidence of infection associated with febrile neutropenia in patients receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy for non-myeloid malignancies. It acts by binding to the Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor receptor on hematopoietic cells, stimulating their proliferation, differentiation, and activation into mature neutrophils. Pegfilgrastim-cbqv is produced by covalently attaching a 20 kDa polyethylene glycol molecule to filgrastim (recombinant methionyl human G-CSF), resulting in prolonged activity compared to non-pegylated forms. The drug is administered as a single subcutaneous injection per chemotherapy cycle and helps lower infection risk during periods of low white blood cell counts caused by cancer treatment[1][4][5][6][8].
