Peginterferon alfa-2b + PD-1 inhibitor is an investigational combination immunotherapy being evaluated by The First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University for the treatment of advanced or metastatic solid tumors. Peginterferon alfa-2b enhances the immune response by binding to the interferon-alpha/beta receptors (IFNAR1 and IFNAR2), thereby promoting MHC class I expression on tumor cells and activating natural killer (NK) cells and cytotoxic T lymphocytes. The PD-1 inhibitor component blocks the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) receptor on T cells, preventing its interaction with ligands PD-L1 and PD-L2, which restores T-cell mediated anti-tumor activity. This combination aims to provide synergistic therapeutic effects by combining direct immune stimulation with the reversal of checkpoint-mediated immune exhaustion.
