Overview
Pegmolesatide is a novel PEGylated erythropoietin-mimetic peptide (EMP) developed by Hansoh Pharmaceutical Group Co., Ltd. It is composed of natural amino acids and is designed to treat anemia, primarily in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), including those on dialysis and non-dialysis. The drug functions by binding to and activating the erythropoietin receptor (EPOR), thereby stimulating erythropoiesis. It aims for reduced immunogenicity and a prolonged duration of action, allowing for less frequent dosing, such as once monthly. Pegmolesatide has been approved and marketed in mainland China for the treatment of anemia in both dialysis and non-dialysis CKD patients.
