Pegorion

Pegorion is an osmotic laxative containing polyethylene glycol 4000 (macrogol 4000) without electrolytes, developed by Orion Corporation. It is indicated for the treatment of both acute and chronic constipation. The drug works through an osmotic mechanism, where the high molecular weight polymer retains water within the intestinal lumen. This increases stool volume and softens its consistency, which in turn stimulates colonic peristalsis and facilitates easier evacuation.
