Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pegpesen (Yipeisheng) is a long-acting, recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) developed by Xiamen Tebao Biological Engineering. It is the world's first rhGH modified with a proprietary Y-shaped 40kD polyethylene glycol (PEG) technology. This modification involves two PEG branches connected to the core via stable amide and C-N bonds, which significantly extends the drug's half-life to approximately 100 hours. This long-acting profile allows for once-weekly subcutaneous administration, offering a more convenient alternative to daily growth hormone injections. Pegpesen acts as an agonist at the growth hormone receptor (GHR), mimicking the effects of endogenous growth hormone to stimulate linear growth and regulate metabolism. It was approved by China's National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in May 2025 for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency in children and is currently in Phase 3 development for several other growth-related indications.
