Pegteograstim is a long-acting, PEGylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) analog. It is designed to stimulate the production, proliferation, and maturation of neutrophils by binding to the G-CSF receptor on hematopoietic cells. This mechanism helps reduce the risk of infection in patients undergoing myelosuppressive chemotherapy for non-myeloid cancers by increasing neutrophil counts. Pegylation extends its half-life compared to non-PEGylated forms like filgrastim, allowing for less frequent dosing. Pegteograstim is primarily used as a leukocyte growth factor in oncology supportive care.
