Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin + rituximab is a combination regimen used primarily in the treatment of B-cell lymphomas, including diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and AIDS-related lymphoma. Pegylated liposomal doxorubicin is a formulation of the anthracycline chemotherapeutic agent doxorubicin encapsulated in pegylated liposomes, which improves pharmacokinetics and reduces cardiotoxicity compared to conventional doxorubicin. Doxorubicin acts by intercalating DNA and inhibiting topoisomerase II, leading to inhibition of DNA replication and apoptosis in rapidly dividing cells.
