Overview

PEGylated PYY3-36 (also known as RG7089) is a long-acting, polyethylene glycol (PEG)-conjugated peptide agonist of the neuropeptide Y receptor type 2 (NPY2R). Developed by Roche, it is a modified version of the endogenous gut hormone peptide YY (PYY3-36) designed to improve proteolytic stability and extend half-life. PEGylated PYY3-36 acts primarily on NPY2R to suppress appetite, reduce food intake, and improve glucose handling and insulin sensitivity. It was investigated for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes (diabesity). However, development was discontinued due to target-related toxicity findings.
