Overview
Pegylated-somatropin is a long-acting recombinant human growth hormone (rhGH) conjugate developed by Xiamen Amoytop Biotech for the treatment of growth hormone deficiency. The drug consists of somatropin covalently attached to a polyethylene glycol (PEG) polymer, which increases the molecule's hydrodynamic radius and reduces its renal clearance. This modification significantly extends the half-life of the growth hormone, enabling a once-weekly subcutaneous injection schedule instead of the daily injections required by conventional rhGH therapies. Mechanistically, it acts as an agonist at the growth hormone receptor (GHR), stimulating the JAK2-STAT5 signaling pathway and inducing the secretion of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) from the liver and other tissues. This promotes linear growth in children and regulates body composition and metabolism in adults.
