Overview
Peiyuan Huayu Formula is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herbal decoction developed by the Affiliated Hospital of Shaanxi University of Chinese Medicine. It is specifically formulated for the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH), a condition characterized by the accumulation of blood in the subdural space, often following minor head trauma in elderly patients. The formula is based on the TCM therapeutic principles of "Peiyuan" (tonifying the kidney and replenishing the essence) and "Huayu" (activating blood circulation to dissipate blood stasis). It is investigated as a non-surgical intervention or an adjuvant to burr-hole drainage to facilitate hematoma absorption, reduce local inflammation, and decrease the rate of recurrence.
