Drug intelligence / Profile preview
PelashieldAM is a fully synthetic, hydrophilic, antimicrobial matrix medical device developed by Imbed Biosciences for the treatment of burn wounds, with a specific focus on pediatric populations. The device is engineered using proprietary Synthetic Antimicrobial Matrix (SAM) Technology, which consists of a polyelectrolyte multi-layer matrix built from a blend of synthetic polymers. It is designed to conform closely to the wound bed, absorb wound exudate, and maintain an optimal moist environment for healing while providing a persistent antimicrobial barrier to inhibit bacterial growth. In February 2024, PelashieldAM received a Technology Breakthrough designation from Premier, Inc., highlighting its clinical utility in pediatric burn care.
