Overview

Pelnac is a collagen-based, artificial dermal substitute designed for the management of partial- and full-thickness skin wounds. It consists of two layers: an atelocollagen sponge layer derived from porcine Achilles tendon, which serves as a scaffold for dermal regeneration, and an outer silicone film layer that prevents external infection and controls moisture. The atelocollagen matrix supports cellular invasion by fibroblasts and capillary growth, leading to the formation of dermis-like tissue within 2–3 weeks. Pelnac is indicated for use in deep burns, exposed bone, traumatic skin defects, chronic ulcers (including pressure ulcers, venous ulcers, diabetic ulcers), surgical wounds (such as donor sites or post-Moh’s surgery), draining wounds, and other full-thickness skin defect wounds. The product is available in various sizes and thicknesses—including fortified (stronger silicone) and fenestrated (meshed) types—and can be used as a temporary wound covering prior to split-thickness skin grafting or secondary intention healing[1][2][3][4][5][8].
