Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pelvirost (often marketed as Pelviprost or Pelviprost Somatico) is an ALIAmide-based therapeutic formulation developed by Epitech Group SpA for the management of neuroinflammation and pain associated with pelvic disorders, including prostatitis, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), and chronic pelvic pain syndrome. The formulation typically contains palmitoylethanolamide (PEA), an endogenous fatty acid amide that acts via the Autacoid Local Inflammation Antagonism (ALIA) mechanism. Pelvirost functions as an agonist of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPAR-alpha) and modulates the degranulation of mast cells and the activity of other non-neuronal immune cells like microglia and astrocytes. By stabilizing these cells, it reduces the release of pro-inflammatory mediators and down-regulates peripheral pain signaling. It is available in various forms, including topical somatic formulations for localized application.
