Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Keytruda Qlex + paclitaxel is an oncology combination regimen consisting of Keytruda Qlex (a subcutaneous fixed-dose combination of the programmed death receptor-1 (PD-1) blocking monoclonal antibody pembrolizumab and the recombinant human hyaluronidase variant berahyaluronidase alfa) and the microtubule inhibitor paclitaxel. Pembrolizumab acts as an immune checkpoint inhibitor by binding to the PD-1 receptor on T cells, blocking its interaction with PD-L1 and PD-L2, thereby restoring T-cell-mediated anti-tumor immune responses. Berahyaluronidase alfa is an endoglycosidase that temporarily degrades hyaluronan in the extracellular matrix of subcutaneous tissue, enhancing the dispersion and absorption of pembrolizumab to enable rapid subcutaneous administration. Paclitaxel is a taxane chemotherapy agent that binds to tubulin, promoting microtubule assembly and stabilizing microtubules against depolymerization, which disrupts mitotic spindle dynamics and leads to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Developed by Merck, this combination regimen is FDA-approved for the treatment of adult patients with PD-L1-positive, platinum-resistant epithelial ovarian, fallopian tube, or primary peritoneal carcinoma who have received one or two prior systemic treatment regimens.
