Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pembrolizumab + tesetaxel is an investigational combination therapy consisting of pembrolizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody targeting the programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1) immune checkpoint, and tesetaxel, an orally administered taxane-class small molecule chemotherapeutic agent. Pembrolizumab acts as an immune checkpoint inhibitor by blocking PD-1 on T cells, thereby enhancing antitumor immune responses. Tesetaxel disrupts microtubule function during cell division, leading to apoptosis in rapidly dividing cancer cells. This combination has been studied in clinical trials for advanced solid tumors such as triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), with the rationale that combining immunotherapy with chemotherapy may improve antitumor efficacy[6].
