Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Pemirolast potassium is a mast cell stabilizer indicated for the prevention of itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis. It acts by inhibiting the antigen-induced release of inflammatory mediators, including histamine and leukotrienes, from mast cells. Additionally, it has been shown to inhibit the chemotaxis of eosinophils into ocular tissue and prevent their activation. Originally developed by Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma, the drug is marketed in China by Shenzhen Relin Medicine under the brand name Huiming. It is typically administered as a topical ophthalmic solution.
